The wanted us to 'bond' with one another because one day we all might actually be friends. And to make it worse, they made it an masquerade dance. At least there wouldn't be any parental supervision. I got dressed in my tux and headed downstairs. My parents were down there doing paper work...as always. When they saw me they actually paid attention to me for a change. They looked at me expectantly. "Where are you going all dressed up?" Asked my mom, walking over and straightning up my tie. "To the masquerade ball the community is having for TEENAGERS." "Why weren't we notified?" Asked my dad. "Maybe it's because you guys don't pay attention to me, or anything that has to do with me." "Look, we know we haven't been acting like a normal family ever since we moved here, but there is a reason why." Said my dad. "Why? Why won't you spend desperately needed time wit! h your son?" "We have to work, CJ. You know that!" Said my mom. "All the time?! I hate your jobs, I hate your money, and most of all...I HATE YOU BOTH!"
